The Shadow Rider

The Sign of Return

14. Zhaelor’Veyl

No path truly ends within the dark.
Some souls merely vanish from the light
until the hour comes
to walk once more through the veils of the world.

Those born beneath the sign of the Shadow Rider carry the silence between life and death within their souls.
They understand that every ending is also a beginning, and that even the final breath is merely another doorway within the great cycle of existence.

Their spirits walk closer to the veil of the afterlife than those of any other sign.
They sense the presence of lost spirits, hear echoes of forgotten lives, and perceive the impermanence of all things with painful clarity. Many become priests, seers, or solitary wanderers between worlds.

The Shadow Rider does not fear the darkness — yet therein lies the greatest danger.
Those who linger too long among shadows may slowly drift away from the world of the living. Some forget the warmth of the present, trapped between memory, death, and endless longing.

The stars offer a warning:
Not every voice from the darkness speaks with wisdom — and not every return is a blessing.

When the night falls silent
and even the stars conceal their light,
a shadow shall ride across the world.
To some it will bring fear —
to others, the promise
that nothing is ever truly lost.

Deep insight, courage before the inevitable, spiritual understanding, inner strength, connection to the afterlife
Loneliness, alienation, melancholic longing, living between worlds
Priesthoods, spirit seers, mercenaries, keepers of the dead, wanderers of shadow paths
